Tryout Camp Report |
Chicago
May
29th
– 31st
Chicago
was
our
first
camp
and
like
all
three
this
year
it
was
“open”
to
any
player
interested
in
furthering
their
hockey
careers
with
the
Texas
Tornado.
I
was
really
encouraged
to
see
so
many
remembering
the
Tornado
reputation
for
success
and
their
desire
to
play
for
us”.
There
was
a
lot
of
eligible
talent
making
it
hard
to
make
selections
to
look
at
again.
Detroit
June
11th-14th
It
will
be
interesting
to
see
how
the
“invitees”
from
the
Chicago
camp
play
in
Detroit
against
our
draft
picks,
tenders
and
free
agents.
There
will
be
more
goalies
there
too.
Detroit
will
be
part
of
the
narrowing
down
process
and
will
lead
to
spots
for
the
Frisco
camp
June
19th
– 21st.
I
want
to
stress
though,
that
we
don’t
want
to
leave
a
stone
unturned
when
it
comes
to
finding
hockey
talent
so
all
three
camps
are
“open”
camps.
We
want
to
see
what’s
out
there!
We
had
some
Booster
Club
people
(Allysan
Petrone
and
Val
Pettay)
come
all
the
way
to
Chicago
to
help
us
with
the
camp.
They
were
great.
They
handled
registration,
food,
shuttling
players
and
mostly
taking
the
load
off
of
the
coaching
staff
so
we
could
concentrate
on
hockey.
With
so
many
kids
trying
out
I
don’t
want
to
miss
even
a
minute
watching
their
games.
The
off
ice
help
of
the
boosters
allows
me
to
do
just
that.
I
think
we
have
the
best
boosters
in
all
of
hockey!
I
understand
some
more
will
be
in
Detroit
too
and
I’m
so
appreciative
of
all
they
to
do
for
us.
Other
Notes:
The
Tornado
will
soon
be
looking
for
Host
Families
for
our
players.
If
you’re
interested
in
participating
in
this
most
rewarding
experience,
contact
the
Tornado
office
Look
for
an
announcement
here,
possibly
Monday,
on
Tony’s
selection
for
an
assistant
coach.
When
asked
how
he
was
bearing
up
to
the
pressure
of
getting
ready
for
the
season,
Tony
said
he
was
used
to
having
four
or
five
months
lead
time
instead
of
one
but
it’s
shaping
up
very
nicely.
