Sherri
has
been
very
busy
and
has
not
had
much
computer
time
so I
am
sending
this
to
update
all
of
you.
As
most
of
you
know
from
Facebook
Sherri’s
husband
John
was
told
last
week
that
he
has
tumors
on
his
lung(s),
kidney(s),
and
it
is
going
into
his
bone(s)
and
it
is
inoperable.
They
were
trying
to
go
to
MD
Anderson
in
Houston
for
a
diagnosis
but
would
not
be
able
to
get
an
appointment
until
August
30th.
Instead
they
have
done
some
research
and
will
be
going
to
an
oncology
place
in
Allen
on
Friday.
So
hopefully
they
will
be
able
to
tell
them
a
little
more.
At
this
point,
they
are
not
really
sure
that
it
is
cancer.
I
know
that
sounds
strange
but
they
have
not
had
a
biopsy
or
anything
yet
so
this
could
be
just
some
strange
growth. They
will
hopefully
know
more
on
Friday
and
we
will
keep
you
posted.
Right
now
there
is
not
anything
they
need
other
than
our
prayers.
Please
keep
John,
Sherri,
and
Jessica
in
your
prayers
and
feel
free
to
have
other
friends
pray
for
them
as
well.
The
power
of
prayer
is a
wonderful
thing!

How does San Jacinto, not particularly a breeding ground for professional athletes anyway and definitely not a hockey hotbed, put a guy on the threshold of a National Hockey League career?
Jake Newton, now an Anaheim Duck, smiled at the query. "A lot of people in my life have had to sacrifice quite a bit," he said. Full Story

They say the true value of a hockey play can be measured by how he responds when his team needs him most, in crucial situations. If so, then defenseman Trevor Ludwig proved his importance to the Texas Stars last week during the Calder Cup Finals.
.... Ludwig performed very well and helped contribute to two fine defensive efforts from the Dallas Stars’ top minor league affiliate. Full Story

Day three saw even more intensity as the players made the most of their chances in hoping to be recognized and named to the All Star roster. Those that did put on quite show for the fans and the coaches in a real game atmosphere. How many will be back in the fall is in the hands of Tony and his staff as evaluate the performance of these boys from this camp and the and all the camps. Some will make it, but most won't. That is hockey and and becoming a Tornado is not attainable for every player that wants to wear the black and gold - or dull bronze as it will be this year. Photos - Mark Simpson
Day Two - Dallas Pre-Draft Tryout Camp
Day two saw 4 scrimmage games plus a goalie session, all making it a long day for the boys and the coaching staff. Play intensified Saturday as every minute of ice time is so important i to show what you have for the coaches. Photos - Mark Simpson
I came away from tonight's Town Hall Meeting which introduced the new ownership group I can't say I have ever been more excited with the direction our team is heading. There will be much more information coming from the Tornado and other sources but suffice to say the Tornado are in good hands and under sound management equipped and dedicated to returning the Tornado Hockey Club to its position as the premier team in the NAHL. This ownership group and their resources I believe are just what we need. webeditor
Opening Day - Dallas Pre-Draft Tryout Camp
Over seventy players hit the ice on opening day of the tryout camp. They came from all over the US and Canada in hopes of impressing the coaches and making the 2001/2011 Tornado hockey team. They have three grueling days to get it done and they really put their hearts in it. Dress warm and come on out to watch the action. Schedule
Looks like the Corpus Christi IceRays could be moving to the NAHL ranks too. Like Amarillo, who were accepted earlier this this week by NAHL, the IceRays could also be leaving the CHL minor pros to play Junior A. more

Bobcats crowned Robertson Cup champions The Bismarck Bobcats celebrated the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) 2010 Robertson Cup championship with a 3-0 victory over the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the title game Sunday at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee, Wash. The Robertson Cup is awarded to the playoff champion of the NAHL, which also represents USA Hockey’s Tier II Junior A national champion.
The oldest junior hockey trophy in the United States, the Robertson Cup is named in honor of Chuck Robertson, a pioneer of junior hockey in the NAHL and youth hockey in the state of Michigan.
Congratulations to Bismarck!
The NAHL Southern Division St. Louis Bandits run for a fourth consecutive NAHL Robertson Cup Championship came to an end early Saturday evening for the three-time defending champions.
St. Louis finished the round-robin portion of the Robertson Cup with a 1-3 record.

Sully Off to Maine The Texas Tornado is proud to announce that goaltender Dan Sullivan has committed to the University of Maine for the 2010-11 season. Sullivan played in 51 regular season games for the Tornado this past season, posting a 3.08 GAA, 1575 saves, and .912 save percentage. During five playoffs games for the Tornado Sullivan had a 1.65 GAA, 185 saves, and .949 save percentage.
“Sully started at a high level this year and because of his work ethic and willingness to learn just better and better. Dan is going to an outstanding program at Maine and I have no doubt that he will be a big factor in their future success,” says Head Coach Tony Curtale. “I have coached several big time goaltenders in the past like Ben Bishop, Al Montoya, Dave McKee, Brandon Crawford-West, Ron Vogel, and Sullivan is right there with that group.”
Former Alumni Ben Bishop who attended Maine from 2006-08 and led the team to two Final Four appearance before leaving early to play for the St. Louis Blues and the Peoria Rivermen (AHL). Maine has appeared in 17 NCAA tournaments, 11 Frozen Fours, earned 5 Hockey East Championships, and 2 NCAA Championships.
St. Louis Bandits Advance To Robertson Cup Play For the fourth consecutive year, the Bandits will represent the NAHL South in the tournament to determine the National Champions. The Bandits who came within 12 seconds of being eliminated by the Tornado in game five of the first round, went on to yet another game five eliminating the Topeka Road Runners. The Bandits are three time defending NAHL champs and will be vying for a fourth title.
Many Tornado fans will be rooting for the Bandits, normally our bitter enemy, to keep the Cup in the South Division to maintain our pride of calling the South the most dominate division in the NAHL.

Sure, we're sad for our boy's as they came so very close but they have won too in our hearts. They gain the respect of our fans and the Bandit fans to for level of competition they showed in the series. The Bandits are very talented, very well coached and have the record to prove that. For our boys to arise to the level where we matched a team of the caliber of the Bandits is our vindication.
Yesterday was the last game for many of our boys as they leave the Jr level. They are sad to leave and not win the game after coming so close but I hope and trust with a little time, they will realize how much they really accomplished. All our boys came together as a team and made everyone one proud. The younger players who come back next season will have the taste of what it means to play at this level and be leaders to the new boys coming in. Congratulations Bandits. You earned the right to move on and may you do well in the tournament.

Referee Kevin Webinger issued a game ejection to Curtale prior to pregame warmups. The ruling was overturned by NAHL commissioner Mark Frankenfeld after a phone appeal, according to Blues board president Chris Kolb. The flare-up between Webinger and Curtale followed a warning to Curtale and Maher to temper their behavior on the bench during the game due to a heated verbal exchange between players from each team prior to the start of warmups.

Great fun had by all!
The Booster Club went all out for the team again this year in wishing each and every boy well as they head home for the holidays.
Lots of food - thank you Luby's for catering the main course - and many, many desserts by our members.
This is a great group of boys, on and off the ice. They seem to really appreciate the TTBC and what it does and we appreciate them.

the
Bandits Isak
Quakenbush
(6'5/230)
to
the
woodshed.
Very
good
tilt
and
a
long
one
too.
In
the
end
big
boy
proved
he
was
pretty
good
at
blocking
Ian's
punches...
with
his
face.

I
just
wanted
to
thank
all
of
you
so
much
for
taking
the
time
to
take
care
of
these
boys.
You
do
not
know
how
much
it
means
to
me
that
my
son
is
cared
for
so
much
by
so
many
people.
There
aren't
enough
words
for
me
to
say
again....
thank
you,
The
TTBC
Executive
Board
met
with
Team
President
and
Head
Coach
Tony
Curtale
to
go
over
ideas
for
the
upcoming
season.
One
of
the
more
important
things
discussed
was
what
we
we
want
to
sell
at
our
table
this
season.
We
will
of
course
still
have
the
ever
popular
player
buttons,
and
horns!
Other
possible
things
we
might
do
this
season
include
a
player
auction
where
you
will
be
able
to
have
dinner
with
your
favorite
player,
a
pumpkin
auction,
and
possibly
even
a
golf
tournament!
The
booster
club
is
very
excited
to
work
with
the
Tornado
to
help
make
this
season
a
great
success.
Coach
Curtale
has
also
said
there
might
be a
chance
to
help
support
the
U18
team
by
volunteering
during
tournaments
here
at
home.
Tony
is
very
thankful
for
all
the
booster
club
has
done
to
help
him
and
the
players
during
tryouts.
Be
sure
to
check
the
TTBC
website
on a
regular
basis
so
you
can
stay
up
to
date
on
what
we're
doing
to
prepare
for
the
season.

Planning for 2009/2010
Membership:
Time to join
is
NOW!
We
have
a
lot
of
things
to
do
getting
ready
for
the
hockey
year
and
building
our
membership
is
the
top
priority.
We
need
active
members
to
accomplish
our
goals
and
we
need
the
cash
from
dues
to
use
as
seed
money
for
our
projects.
Please
do
your
part
and
apply
today!
Online
Application
is
ready
now.
Everyone
has
to
fill
out
the
application
whether
you
have
paid
your
dues
or
not.
This
is
how
we
maintain
accurate
member
information
and
you
gain
access
to
the
"members-only"
sections
of
the
website.
After
June
15
only
currant
members
will
have
access
using
IDs
and
Passwords.
Upcoming
Activities:
Tryout
Camps!
Several
members
are independently
planning
to
attend
and
assist
Tony
in
Chicago
and
Detroit
but
the
TTBC
will
be
needing
volunteers
for
the
Frisco
camp.
Helping
players
with
paperwork.
shuttling
between
hotels
and
the
rink
and
providing
snacks
are
just
some
of
the
services
we
will
provide.
Its
a
great
way
to
help
the
Tornado
staff
and
meet
some
awesome
young
men
as
they
try
to
make
our
team.
A
night
with
Tony:
We're
planning
an
informal
potluck
so
we
can
get
reacquainted
with
Coach
Curtale.
It
will
be
chance
to
talk
one
on
one
with
the
best
coach
in
all
of
Jr.
hockey.
This
will
event
will
be
open
to
current
members
and
potential
members
too
so
they
can
meet
us
and
we
can
twist
some
arms.
No
one
will
be
allowed
to
go
home
before
joining!!
Training
Camp
Tailgate:
We
will
all
want
to
see
the
new
team
Tony
has
assembled
so
what
would
you
think
of
putting
some
burgers
and
dogs
on
the
barbe
and
having
a
tailgate
party
during
training
camp?
What
a
better
way
to
welcome
these
players
to
Texas
and
the
TTBC?
We
want
your
ideas
too:
What
do
you
want
the
TTBC
to
be?
Its
your
Booster
Club,
what
would
like
to
do?
What
can
the
TTBC
do
to
better
serve
the
boys
and
it's
members?
Let
us
know.
